This course is geared to people who wish to add CPR training to the knowledge they have gained in scuba diving. This course is also used by professional rescuers (fire fighters, lifeguards, health care, medical and paramedic staff). You will learn: information about heart disease, the skills of adult, child and infant CPR for one rescuer, what to do if an adult, child or infant is choking and adult CPR for two rescuers. Current CPR certification is mandatory for divers wishing to continue on to any ACUC Leadership level. Some of the topics covered are:

  • Chain of Survival theory
  • Entry into EMS
  • Shock, unconsciousness, and fainting
  • Real and apparent death
  • Breathing emergencies for infants, children, and adults
  • Artificial respiration for infants, children, and adults
  • Choking emergencies
  • Healthy heart living and cardiac risk factors
  • Recognition of cardiovascular disease and stroke
  • One-rescuer CPR for adults, infants, and children
  • Actions for survival
  • Two-rescuer CPR for adults
