An excellent course for any diver wishing to expand his knowledge of the sport and feel more secure under water.  This is a theory and practical course that covers the topic of Diver Problem Recognition and Rescue Techniques.   The Rescue course will expose the diver to water related first aid scenarios and cover the following topics:

  • Rescuer Preparation
  • Injuries Produced by Fauna
  • Shock and CPR
  • Embolisms and Decompression Sickness
  • Drowning and Revival Techniques
  • Dizziness and Vertigo
  • Equipment Related Problems
  • In Water Rescue Skills and Self Rescue
  • Basic U/W Search Techniques
  • Currents, Waves and Tides
  • Stress and Panic

Prerequisites

  • ACUC Advanced Diver certification
  • Minimum of 20 dives not including checkout dives from other courses
  • Recommended First Aid and CPR Course
Duration
Approximately 20+ hours, depending on the number of students in the course
Requirements to obtain the certification
A series of practical exercises in pool, a written examination on the theory of diving (related to the topics offered in the course), various diver rescue techniques must be performed in an open water setting, and ability to demonstrate how to perform CPR
